Clipper Terms
Last updated: October 24, 2026
These Clipper Terms govern freelance editors (“clippers”) who accept assignments from ClipHaus (the “Studio”). They sit alongside the general Terms of Service; where the two conflict on an editing engagement, these terms control. Accepting an assignment in the studio means accepting these terms for that assignment.
1. Engagement
Clippers are independent contractors, not employees. There is no guarantee of volume: assignments are offered per job, and a clipper may decline any job before starting it. A job that has been started is a commitment to its deadline.
2. Rates and earning
Each clipper has a per-clip rate agreed with the Studio and recorded on their account before work begins. A clip earns its rate when, and only when, the final version passes the Studio's quality review (“QC”). Clips that are sent back earn nothing until the corrected version passes. Rates may be reviewed by agreement; a rate change never applies retroactively to clips already passed.
3. Payouts
Earnings are totalled per payout cycle and paid in batches. Every payout line traces to a QC pass recorded in the platform ledger. If a payout looks wrong, raise it within one cycle; ledger entries are append-only and corrections are made by adjustment entries, never by editing history.
4. Ownership
On payment, all rights in a delivered clip, including project files created for it, belong to the Studio's client. Before payment, the clipper retains rights in unapproved drafts, which may not be published, sold, or used as portfolio material. Approved and paid work may be shown in a portfolio with the client's and the Studio's prior written agreement.
5. Confidentiality and client contact
Unreleased episodes, client identities, rates, and studio internals are confidential. Clippers never contact the Studio's clients directly about Studio work, and never take a Studio client off the platform for the same work. Breach of this section ends the engagement immediately.
6. Standards and conduct
Work must meet the Studio's published checklist: accurate captions, clean audio, correct framing, and no edits that change a speaker's meaning out of context. Falsifying work, including passing off automated output as hand-checked captions, is grounds for removal from the roster.
7. Ending the engagement
Either side may end the relationship at any time. Clips passed at QC before the end date are paid in the next cycle. Confidentiality and ownership obligations survive the end of the engagement.
